DEP/DABACA4659N2304E. - ⚠️ Ethanol check (simple field method) To check if automotive gasoline (MOGAS) contains ethanol, a simple water-separation test can be used: Take a transparent container with volume markings. Add 10% clean water (for example 10 ml water in a 100 ml test). Add gasoline until reaching the desired total volume. Close and shake the container for a few seconds. Let the mixture settle. If ethanol is present, it will mix with the water and the water layer will increase in volume. If the water level remains unchanged, the gasoline likely contains little or no ethanol. Note: This is a basic field test commonly used by pilots to detect ethanol in automotive gasoline before use.
